Approaching the age of fifty brought on a few new surprises. The company employing me in North Bay began to downsize. However, I was fortunate enough to secure a promising job offer back in Southern Ontario. After moving my residence south again I found myself standing in an unemployment line after working only three short months with the new firm.
When you have inspired thought, you have to trust it and you have to act on it. Whether you think you can or you can’t, you are right. ~~Henry Ford~~

Taking inventory on nearly thirty years of business experience I turned my focus to self-employment in hopes to finally have the opportunity to begin shooting for my dreams. Considering all of my business experience I felt a deep burning desire to set my sights on teaching.
Simply putting this intention out to the market soon brought contract opportunities to me from both a college and a training centre. These resources attracted mature students whom also found themselves suddenly unemployed.
Teaching quickly became as natural to me as walking. The students that I taught found my type of instruction to be a refreshing alternative to the old educational system.
A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with – a man is what he makes of himself. ~~Alexander Graham Bell~~

Month, after month, I began to gain more confidence in my teaching abilities. Venturing out to become an active member of Toastmaster International was blessing me with vast improvement in my social and speaking skills. My dream of becoming an Inspirational Speaker and Life Skills Instructor was getting closer and closer, day by day!
After two years of teaching business programs the work began to slow down. My career opportunities were showing patterns of going in circles. Where do I go from here? How do I earn enough money to pay my bills? Can I find a way to jump off the merry-go-round?
The day of reckoning had come. It was time to walk my talk…and…talk my walk. Jumping off the cliff, I charged full speed ahead becoming the speaker and instructor I had been dreaming of for years! With my researched knowledge, partnered with my personal growth and business experience, I began to market “Breaking Fear” workshops in my local community.
As the saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” The very first step to changing your life is taking action. As a person that has walked in your shoes, I encourage you to take action. Nothing will change until you make a commitment to action.
Just by the sheer fact that you are reading this B;OG proves you are seeking a new beginning. Congratulate yourself for being willing to step out of your box! And the good news is, “You do not have to do it alone. Help is available when you are determined”.
